Using selvedge positions the garment as a form 1940s workwear could not reach then, achieving its “completed state” through modern textile technology. The collar and structural elements are fully re‑engineered, giving the pattern greater three‑dimensionality and movement than the original archival design. To recreate the stitch variance of authentic 1940s workwear, the sewing machine was modified for controlled irregularity. 20‑count cotton thread and unbranded 3‑hole aluminum buttons echo mid‑century French work garments. The 15oz selvedge denim is triple‑washed before cutting and triple‑washed again after construction, stabilizing the fabric so it will shrink very little.
